Data Science, Internet of Things, and Sustainability

Original event:

Mohak Shah, Senior Principal Scientist, Bosch

Advancements in enabling technologies for the Internet of Things (IoT), along with large scale data analytics are impacting a variety of industry- and consumer-facing domains. This talk will focus on the interconnection of data science and the IoT and illustrate applications in domains explored by Bosch with significant sustainability implications (including energy, thermo-technology and manufacturing). I will also discuss some development constraints and challenges as well as techniques to operationalize the analytics in industrial settings.

Mohak Shah is Senior Principal Scientist, and leads Data Science at Bosch’s Research and Technology Center in Palo Alto. He is an analytics leader with significant experience in organization formation, strategy, and end-to-end data science engagements. He has led Industrial Internet and IoT engagements in domains including aviation, energy and healthcare managing diverse teams from research, software and businesses. He is the General Chair for the upcoming ACM SIGKDD 2016 conference. As a scientist, he has developed novel machine learning and statistical algorithms, with high impact application in industrial domains, healthcare, bioinformatics and neurosciences.
